Minimum Experience Manager/Supervisor

The Manager, Research and Moves Management is a full-time exempt position reporting directly to the Associate Director, Development, and is directly responsible for conducting research and preparing reports to support the Ballet’s Advancement Department—which comprises Marketing and Development staff—and expand its audiences and prospective donor pool. Additionally, the position maintains accurate and comprehensive constituent records in the Ballet’s Tessitura database, including recording of: solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship activity (“moves management”); contact information; research notes; constituencies; and other indicators. This role works closely with Philadelphia Ballet’s gift officers to support their moves management activities.



  • Research responsibilities include:
    • Proactively research existing donors and identify new prospects and create detailed profiles and reports as needed
    • In collaboration with Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) and Associate Director, Development, prepare plans and briefings for meetings and events
    • Create donor profiles for attendees of special events and other cultivation and stewardship activities
    • Coordinate regular wealth screenings through iWave and other platforms
    • Proactively research peer organizations’ donors to expand the Ballet’s prospect pipeline
    • In collaboration with the Foundations and Government Relations Manager, support institutional research efforts as needed
    • Respond to individual research requests as needed
    • Implement and maintain effective procedures to support prospect research
  • Database administration and moves management responsibilities include:
    • Support gifts officers, Trustees, and other frontline fundraisers in portfolio management by recording completed and pending cultivation, stewardship and solicitation steps
  • Maintain constituencies and other indicators to support audience segmentation
  • In collaboration with the Ballet’s Marketing function, support integration of other CRM programs including Salesforce, TRG’s Data Center, and the Advisory Board for the Arts’ Arts 360 database.
  • Implement and maintain effective procedures to support prospect management
  • Work on rotating performance duty schedule and participate in donor receptions and events, as required.
  • Perform additional duties as required by Philadelphia Ballet


Supervisory Responsibility:  None


Expected Hours of Work:  Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand, particularly when the Ballet is in performance.

Travel:  Travel is primarily locally during the business day, although some out of the area travel and overnight may be expected.


Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • 3-5 years non-profit experience required.
  • Experience with Tessitura or other fundraising database platform (i.e., Raisers Edge, Millennium) required.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency required
